
LA VERNE, Calif. — The University of La Verne volleyball team announced the addition of nine newcomers on Tuesday.
The list of incoming recruits for the 2015 season include:

Setter 5-9 • Fr. Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. (Los Osos)Why La Verne? I chose La Verne because I love the close community feel; it's a great academic school; I wanted to stay close to home; and I love the volleyball team and program!

Teagan Griffiths
Defensive Specialist/Libero 5-4 • Fr. Oceansice, Calif. (Vista)Why La Verne? As someone who wanted to stay in Southern California, I chose La Verne because when I visited the school I loved the campus, the coach and the girls. Plus we have a legal program and that's what I plan on majoring in while ultimately continuing into law school.
Achievements: Two-year letterwinner in volleyball ... also lettered three years in track and field ... named varsity Rookie Runner of the Year ... won the bronze medal in Junior Olympics (volleyball) ... led team to CIF quarterfinals
Madison Hickey
Setter 5-8 • Fr. Canyon Lake, Calif. (Elsinore)Why La Verne? I chose La Verne because I wanted to play volleyball and our volleyball program is amazing! The campus is also beautiful and it looked like the perfect fit for me socially and academically.
Achievements: Selected to First Team All-League and Second Team All-Valley ... part of a team that made it to state championships ... two-time All-Academic student-athlete
Delaney Lynch
Outside Hitter 5-8 • Fr. Murrieta, Calif. (Vista Murrieta)Why La Verne: I chose La Verne because I connected with all the girls on the team. I also wanted to stay close to home and I was so lucky that I loved the campus as well.

Setter 6-0 • Fr. San Antonio, Texas (TMI-The Episcopal School of Texas)Why La Verne? I choose to attend La Verne because I wanted to play volleyball while still getting a great education. I also really enjoyed the area when I visited.

Kristen Sanchez

Middle Blocker 6-0 • Fr. Apple Valley, Calif. (Granite Hills)Why La Verne? I chose La Verne for multiple reasons. First and foremost, I was given the chance to play volleyball for this very spirited team, which has always been my dream. Secondly, I had heard wonderful things about the biology department.
Achievements: Two-year letterwinner at Granite Hills High School ... also lettered in water polo ... named Team MVP in volleyball and water polo her senior year ... served as a captain of the volleyball team and the water polo team ... named the Most Inspirational Player as a senior ... ranked top-10 in GPA ... made Principal's Honor Roll
Katelyn Winiecki
Middle Blocker 5-10 • Fr. San Dimas, Calif. (San Dimas)Why La Verne? I chose La Verne for the variety of majors to study, which included all that I had in mind, as well as the outstanding community on campus. Everyone is so welcoming towards you and genuinely encouraging toward your success in the future. I also heard so many amazing things about La Verne's volleyball program and wanted to be a part of it!

Defensive Specialist/Libero 5-3 • Fr. San Dimas, Calif. (Bonita)Why La Verne? I chose La Verne because the team seemed like a true family that would be competitive and supportive. La Verne's beautiful campus and small class sizes also appealed to me.
