Yaxley named Honorable Mention All-America

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Brittany Yaxley of the University of La Verne volleyball team was named a 2015 American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Honorable Mention All-America.

It is Yaxley's second All-America honor. She was named to the Third Team last year.

Yaxley also earned First Team All-SCIAC and All-West Region honors in the past two weeks.

Yaxley has been one of the best players in the country ever since she stepped on campus in 2012 and this season was no different. The Glendora native recorded 339 kills, knocked down 54 service aces and averaged a career-high 2.83 digs per set as she led the Leopards to a 20-8 overall record and 13-3 in the SCIAC.

She also led the SCIAC in kills (207), service aces (29) and total points (250.5) in conference play.

Yaxley brought the Leopards back in the national conversation the past two seasons as La Verne cracked the Top 25 each season and made an appearance in the 2014 NCAA Volleyball Championship.

She also cemented her status as one of the best players in La Verne history when she broke the program's all-time kills record at Pomona-Pitzer on Oct. 27 and the all-time aces record against Simpson on Oct. 30. She finishes her career with 1,487 kills and 168 service aces.
