Help Mireya Fight Lymphoma

The Leopard community was hit with some hard news late last week when it was learned that University of La Verne sophomore Mireya Rojo had been diagnosed with classic Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Mireya is a key member of the La Verne volleyball team who has played a big part in the team's success this year. Mireya is looking for support from the La Verne community to help her and her family through this difficult time. She has set up a GoFundMe page to help offset some of the financial costs of chemotherapy and other treatments needed to beat her diagnosis.

Please click on the link here to visit her page and help Mireya in this fight. Read below to hear Mireya in her own words:

"My name is Mireya Rojo, a 19 year old girl who lives for her family and playing volleyball. I play volleyball with my older sister (who's a senior this year, Marisa Rojo) at the collegiate level. I was so excited for this season to play with her until I got some unexpected news that happened to hit in the middle of season. Monday, October 2nd 2017, I was diagnosed with classic Hodgkin's lymphoma and will have to undergo chemotherapy. I know that trusting God in a situation like this is the best thing to do and I hope you all could do the same for me. I don't have a job at the moment and I am a full-time student so would not be able to pay any financial aspects of this journey. My parents struggle on a daily basis trying to pay tuition for two college students! I'm trying to raise money to afford all medical expenses. My goal is to show everyone I'm strong and could kick lymphoma's butt! I would appreciate any support you could possibly give! Thank you."

Next Tuesday, October 17 the Leopards and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps will hold a fundraiser before and during their 7 p.m. match in The Tents. More details on the fundraiser will follow.

Please share Mireya's story to help her fight and beat lymphoma.
