No. 24 Volleyball Dominates Beavers in Pasadena

PASADENA, Calif. — The Leopards hit .418 in the match and the No. 24 University of La Verne volleyball team dominated on the road against the Caltech Beavers, winning 3-0.

Set Scores: 25-10, 25-14, 25-15

Season Impact: The Leopards improve to 26-5 overall and 9-2 in SCIAC play. The Beavers fall to 2-16 overall and 0-10 in the conference.

Marisa Rojo led La Verne with 12 kills on .500 hitting to go with seven digs and a block. Freshman Emma Estigoy had a big day turning in eight kills with a .462 hitting percentage 

Sarah Yauchzee totaled a game-high 11 digs. 

The Leopards could do no wrong in the opening set, hitting an outstanding .577 with 17 total kills in the frame. La Verne jumped out to a 6-0 lead on their way to the opening set win. 

It was more of the same in the second, with the Leopards hitting .433 in the set. La Verne again grabbed a big lead early on their way to a 2-0 lead.

The Leopards led by as many as 14 in the third set, closing out the sweep.

Kelsie Sievers put down seven kills on just nine attacks. Kristen Sanchez finished with double-digit digs at 10. 

Madison Maynes led all players with 29 assists. Yauchzee and Maynes each added two aces. 

Next Game: The Leopards have a big match next Tuesday, October 17 when they host No. 8 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 7 p.m.
