Sievers, Sanchez, Maynes, Celaya tabbed All-SCIAC

LA VERNE, CA — Four members of the University of La Verne volleyball team earned All-SCIAC recognition the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference office announced Monday morning.

Kristen Sanchez and Kelsie Sievers both earned First Team All-SCIAC honors. Madison Maynes and Haley Celaya were each named Second Team All-SCIAC.

Sanchez earns All-SCIAC recognition for the third year in a row and makes the first team in back-to-back years. The senior leads the conference with 560 total digs and 5.44 digs per set. She's also added 131 assists and 31 aces. Sanchez currently ranks second in career digs in the La Verne record book with 1,941. 

Sievers earns All-SCIAC honors for the first time in her career. She has had an incredible season, notching career-highs in nearly every statistical category. Sievers leads the SCIAC with 372 kills and 3.61 kills per set. The senior has also totaled 55 blocks.

Maynes has had a breakout year for the Leopards. The setter ranks first in the SCIAC in assists with 1,035, over 200 more than the next closest players, and also ranks first in assists per set with 10.05. The junior also totaled 287 digs. 

Celaya could not have asked for a better start to her collegiate career. The freshman ranks second on the Leopards' squad and sixth in the SCIAC with 278 kills. She's also added 24 blocks, 204 digs, and 21 assists.  

SCIAC Postseason Tournament

The Leopards travel down the road to face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament Semifinals on Thursday, November 1 at 7 p.m.
