The Match-Up

Both teams come into the game on hot streaks. The Athenas are ranked No. 5 in the nation, enter the game with a seven-match winning streak, and claimed its fourth-straight regular season SCIAC title. The Leopards needed to finish the regular season strong to earn a spot in the postseason and they did just that. La Verne is playing its best volleyball of the season and has won five of its last six matches.

Who to Watch

The Leopards are led by First Team All-SCIAC selections Kristen Sanchez and Kelsie Sievers. Sanchez leads the SCIAC with 560 digs (5.44 per set) and Sievers ranks first with 372 kills (3.61 per set). Also looking to make a big impact are Second Team All-SCIAC selections Madison Maynes and Haley Celaya. Maynes has been the centerpiece of La Verne's offense, dishing out a conference-leading 1,035 assists (10.05 per set) while Celaya has added 278 kills. Defensively, senior Katelyn Winiecki will be a force in the middle and look to add to her 76 total blocks.

The Athenas will be led by SCIAC Athlete of the year Phoebe Madsen. The setter does it all for CMS, totaling 833 assists, 310 digs, and 156 kills. On the attack, it will be Amanda Walker looking to do the damage. Walker finished the regular season with 363 kills.

What's at Stake

It's win and advance. The Athenas want to repeat as National Champions and need a win to keep their chances alive. For the Leopards, it's a chance to get a step closer to their first ever SCIAC Postseason Tournament Championship.
