
LA VERNE, CA — Haley Celaya led all players in kills and the University of La Verne volleyball team dominated the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens in a 3-0 win Tuesday night.

Season Impact
With the win, the Leopards record their second-straight sweep and improve to 12-7 overall and 6-2 in SCIAC play. Pomona-Pitzer falls to 9-8 overall and 3-4 in the SCIAC.
The Leopards currently sit in third place in the conference standings behind Chapman and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
Stat Leaders
The Leopards' top attackers had an efficient offensive night. Celaya put down 13 kills with a .393 hitting percentage to go with six digs and an assist.
Middle Ayana Mier had another big game for La Verne and totaled nine kills on .368 hitting to go with four blocks.
Emma Estigoy had a big all-around game. The junior libero served up four aces, to bring her team-leading season total to 23 aces. She also added 16 digs and three assists in the win.
Pi'ikea Clemens finished with six kills, three aces, nine digs, and a block.
Freshman Jasmine Chandler finished with six kills, one dig, and one block. Darrah Jones hit .400 in the match with five kills, one dig, and a block.
Emily Heldenbrand had a big game defensively, totaling nine digs. The Leopards hit .282 in the match and closet out the match with a .387 hitting percentage in the final set.
The Sagehens were led by Vicky-Marie Addo-Ashong's 10 kills and Isabel Kelly's nine kills.
Next Game
The Leopards have the weekend off and return to action on Friday, October 18 with a big 7 p.m. road game at Cal Lutheran. La Verne beat the Regals in four sets earlier this season.
