Meet Our Newest Leopards

The University of La Verne volleyball team would like to introduce you to its four newest Leopards. 

Jenica Hernandez

Freshman | MBB/OPP | 5'10" | Hacienda Heights, CA | Los Altos High School

"We are excited to have Jenica come in and compete in the middle position. She brings athleticism and a work ethic that will make us better along the front row. We are really fortunate to have a competitor like her become part of our Leopard family."

Jocelyn Portillo

Junior | OH/OPP| 5'9" | Duarte, CA | Duarte High School/Mt. SAC

"I am so excited to bring in a player with experience to the outside hitter position. Jocelyn will give us some added firepower to the left side and a great competitive spirit to our roster. She's demonstrated herself to be a great teammate and is going to improve our roster all around."

"I was happy to stay local and commute. I had a great talk with my coach and got to know some players who reached out and were very friendly and family/team-oriented. Based on my conversations with my coach I decided to commit. I knew I was going to be happy at La Verne"

Noelani Soma

Freshman | OH | 5'9" | Lake Forest, CA | El Toro High School

"Noelani was my very first commit and I was so pumped to have her pick La Verne. Noelani comes from great volleyball programs in Orange County and is a well-rounded player that can play any position. She'll help us with our serve receive and will be a great option as an attacker."

"I chose La Verne because of how welcomed the coaching staff and team made me feel. It was a plus that La Verne also had my major, criminology, and minor, forensics."

Kelly Yeung

Freshman | L/DS | 5'4" | Claremont, CA | Claremont High School

"Kelly is going to bring an intensity and focus to our back row play that we love. She's a great server and defender and is a fantastic student. She is a great addition to our back row and will give us depth and versatility at the libero position."
