Volleyball Falls to Cal Lutheran

THOUSAND OAKS – The University of La Verne Women's volleyball team (7-13; 3-10) was defeated by the Cal Lutheran University Regals (10-15; 8-6) in straight sets on Saturday. The Leos were unable to avenge an early-season loss to the Regals and finish the season series 0-2. La Verne was competitive throughout the match, losing two of three sets by only three points, but was not able to overcome Cal Lutheran.

Set Scores: 25-22, 25-15, 25-22

Emily Heldenbrand had an excellent day for the Leos despite the day's outcome. She was second on the team in kills with eight and was the most effective Leo attacker with a .238 kill percentage. Heldenbrand also had 18 assists and 12 digs. Ha'ani Untalan was the Leos' leading scorer with nine kills. She also had 10 digs and a block assist. Noelani Soma and Kari Esseff contributed on offense with seven and six kills respectively.

Maci Haddad was the most impressive attacker on the court for Cal Lutheran. She had an impressive nine kills, a .421 kill percentage, and five block assists. Tess Holbert was a swiss army knife for the Regals with three kills on just five attempts, 21 assists, six digs, and two total blocks.

La Verne's second to last home game of the season will be on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. against Caltech in the Sports Science Athletic Pavilion.
