Pomona, CA -The University of La Verne volleyball team hoped to extend their winning streak of five games. The Pomona Pitzer Sagehens were the opponents for the Leopards' matchup on Saturday afternoon in an afternoon SCIAC battle. With identical records in SCIAC play going into this game, the Leopards and Saughens were playing to stake a claim in the conference standings. The Leopards were defeated 27-29 in a highly competitive first set. The Sagehens also prevailed in the second set, 20-25. Though competing valiantly in the third set, the Leopards would fall by the final score of 25-17.
Mya Ray led the Leopards with 16 kills. 15 digs and 3 blocks. Jordyn Patton had 28 assists for the Leopards in the match.
The University of La Verne returns to action on October 18th at Whittier. The match starts at 7:00 PM.
