Jefferis, Lovrensky Named to Academic All-SCIAC Team

PASADENA — Sarah Jefferis and Madeline Lovrensky of the University of La Verne women's water polo team were named to the 2014 Academic All-SCIAC Team, the conference office announced on Thursday.

Jefferis, a junior psychology major, scored a total of 28 goals on the season. Jefferis had her best games against Macalester on March 22 and against Chapman on April 2, in which she put in four goals each.

Lovrensky, a junior biology major and an All-American swimmer, joined the water polo team on April 2 against Chapman after the conclusion of the swimming season and notched 11 goals in the team's final 11 games.

To be eligible for selection to the team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average at her current institution, must have completed one full calendar year at her current institution, must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility and must have appeared in at least one conference game during the current water polo season. In the case of transfers, graduate students, and two-year college graduates, the student-athlete must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution.
