Women's Water Polo takes down Concordia, 9-7

LA VERNE, Calif. — The University of La Verne Women's Water Polo picked up its second win in a row after defeating Concordia (Calif.), 9-7, on Saturday afternoon at Las Flores Park.

Freshman attacker Guarina Garcia scored three goals in the third quarter to shut down a comeback by the Eagles, including a sweet no-look goal (pictured) after Emily Randall drew an ejection in set to give the Leopards a 6 on 5 advantage.

The Leopards opened up the first frame with goals from Katie Stelnicki and Catie Tuning. Kelsey Stumm scored for the Eagles, but Salena Zapata scored twice to open the lead to 4-1 and the Leopards never looked back.

Concordia cut the cushion to 9-7 in the fourth quarter, but the Leopard lead was too great and La Verne coasted to a 9-7 win.

The Leopards will host Siena College at 4 p.m. on Thursday afternoon at Las Flores Park.
