Garcia, Rosero named First Team All-SCIAC

LA VERNE, Calif. — La Verne's Guarina Garcia and Stephanie Rosero have been named to the 2017 First Team Women's Water Polo All-SCIAC as voted by the conference's head coaches. It is the second year in a row the duo has been tabbed First Team.

After taking the SCIAC by the storm last year when the Leopards had the best season in program history, Garcia and Rosero picked up right where they left off, even with scouting reports designed to stop them.

Rosero, a senior from South Gate, led the Leopards with 61 goals and dished out 20 assists, playing the point on offense. She also drew 17 exclusions and recorded 30 steals.

Garcia was a force all over the pool. She tallied 47 goals and a team-leading 30 assists on offense while drawing 32 ejections. The Puerto Rico native also swiped an incredible 83 steals on defense.

The Leopards finished with another winning season and finished third in the SCIAC with a chance to win the championship heading into the championship tournament. La Verne also notched wins over upper-division foes Azusa Pacific and Cal State Monterey Bay.
