Women's Water Polo set for SCIAC Postseason

LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne women's water polo team is set to open the SCIAC Postseason Tournament against Pomona-Pitzer tomorrow. The Leopards will take on the Sagehens at 7 p.m. at Haldeman Pool.

Tournament Seeds

The Leopards won five of their last seven games to earn a spot in the postseason. Leading the Leopards offensively will be a pair of First Team All-SCIAC selections in attackers Jassmine Kezman and Guarina Garcia. Kezman finished the regular season with 46 goals in SCIAC play and Garcia added 42 goals. Kezman scored 81 total goals during the season, 23 more than the next closest athlete. Garcia also did her part on the defensive end, leading the Leopards with 40 steals.

Looking to dish to the pair will be senior Victoria Mezack. The Hacienda Heights native ranked third in the conference with 32 assists. 

Defensively, Shelby Garcia will look to keep the Sagehens off the board. The junior earned SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors twice this season for her play in the cage. 

Pomona-Pitzer will be led by SCIAC Athlete of the Year Natalie Hill.
