Cross Country opens season in Claremont

CLAREMONT, Calif. — The University of La Verne cross country teams opened their 2017 season Friday afternoon in a triangular meet against Occidental and Pomona-Pitzer. 

Women's Recap

Melissa Cerrillos led the way for La Verne, finishing sixth with a time of 15:56. Samantha Hanawalt was the second Leopard to finish the race coming in 12th. Janice Deguerio, MIchelle Suarez, and Ashley Garnica followed next for La Verne.

Reiko Fujimoto and Jesja Pham rounded out the scoring for the Leopards.

Men's Recap 

On the men's side, Matthew Salas crossed the finish line first for the Leopards. Marcelo Arcos finished two spots later with Samuel Johnny following next.

Eric Lopez-Elwell and Chris Arcos took the next two places for the Leopards.

Joel Reyes capped off the scoring for La Verne.
