
CLAREMONT, CA — Catherina Posada led the University of La Verne women's cross country team at the 2019 SCIAC Cross Country Championships.
Posada placed 37th overall with a time of 24:14.5. The senior has been pacing the Leopards' squad all season.
Bianca Pages ran one of her best races of the season, finishing second for the Leopards and 54th overall with a time of 24:51.7.
Ashley Garnica crossed next for the Leopards with a time of 24:56.9. Freshman Mackenzie Lazarus finished with a time of 25:06.8.
Reiko Fujimoto posted a time of 25:27.4 for the Leopards. Isabella Powers (26:15.1), Serena Gallegos (26:18.9), and Jesja Pham (26:42.2) closed out the race for La Verne.
The Leopard took eighth overall with a score of 218. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the SCIAC team title and Lila Cardillo of Pomona-Pitzer won the individual title.
Next Race
The Leopards will now wait and see who gets a bid to the NCAA West Regionals held in two weeks on the same course as the SCIAC Championships.
