La Verne eventually made it a one-point game, but Cal Lutheran was ready. Holbert faked a set and recorded the kill instead and Peete followed her with a kill to get the lead back to three. La Verne kept coming and tied the set at 20, but two straight errors gave Cal Lutheran the lead right back. The Regals took it from there as Haddad and Crane recorded a kill and Haddad and Peete finished it off with a block.

The match continued alternating set wins as La Verne won the fourth set and forced the decisive fifth. The Regals jumped out to a 7-1 lead and the Leopards were in trouble. Trento and Holbert served aces, Muller and Haddad combined for a block and Le Verne made errors. The Leopard weren't finished, and weathered the storm, and later in the set had their own seven-point run and tied the final set at 12. La Verne came all the way back and took the match.
