Last Chance Twilight Meet Information

Registration through Direct Athletics starts on April 26th and closes at 6:00 PM on May 9th.

Out of State Colleges may enter athletes who are vaccinated per the Visitor Health Assessment  or have quarantined in California for 7 days and then took a Covid test prior to the meet and showed a negative result. Colleges request invitation into the meet through email to jhoyt@apu.edu

Unattached and Open athletes may enter the meet through Direct Athletics.

$30 per entry with a $500 team cap. No refunds. Events will close once they reach capacity.

Proof of a negative Covid test required. See other Covid Requirements below.

Meet notes: On Saturday the 5K will have an Open Division and an Invitational division. The Open women will race at 7:00 PM and the men will race at 7:30 PM. Invitational 5K’s will start at 9:30 PM.

Field Events with 2 flights, will receive 30 minutes of warmup time for each flight. Check in at your field event site and enter the track through the hip number tent at the SW corner of the track.

Implement certification will take place at the SW corner of the track from 8:00 AM-Noon.

CHECK-IN PROCEDURES AND ENTRY TO THE TRACK

·           Check-in procedures for running event athletes

Ø  All athletes must pick up a hip number a minimum of 60 minutes prior to your race.

Ø  Report with your hip number to the SW track entry gate 20 minutes before your heat to enter the track and infield for final warmups.

·           Field Event Check-in:

Ø  Pole Vaulters - 90 minutes prior to the event start time.

Ø  High Jumpers - 60 minutes prior to the event start time.

Ø  Hammer throw will be limited to the top 9 entries due to field restrictions.

Ø  Throwers and Horizontal Jumpers – Flight 1 will enter the track 30 minutes prior to their event start time. If needed, additional flights will be escorted onto the track at the conclusion of the preceding flight and be granted 30 minutes of warmup time.

·           ALL athletes will exit through the southeast gate near the finish line and go directly back to their team area.

·           Implement Certification: 8:00-11:00 AM. By the hip number tent at the SW corner of the track.

·           Spike Check: Athletes will have their spike length checked at the Clerking Tent at the SW entrance to the track. Only 1/4” pyramid are allowed. High Jump and Javelin can use any pyramid or Christmas Tree style 3/8” spike. After entering the track, running event athletes are encouraged to put their competition shoes on in the corner of the track behind the 110 Hurdle Starting line.

·           Horizontal Jumps and Throws: If more than 14 entries we will have 2 flights, placing better entry marks in the 2nd flight and concluding with 9 to finals.

·           Parking: In the main lot next to Cougar Stadium off of N. Citrus Drive.

·           Rules: NCAA rules will dictate the procedures of the meet.

·           Porta-potty’s and sanitizing stations will be available at the East end of the parking lot and at the West end of the stadium.

 

SPORTS MEDICINE CONSIDERATIONS AND COVID RESTRICTIONS

·           A Vaccination Card will not permit you into the meet or stadium.

·           Your SM staff should be stationed in your designated team area or advised by the APU Athletic Trainer where to set up their table in a safe area near the track.

·           APU SM is available to respond to any emergency medical situation. Complete the Azusa Pacific Athletics Game-Day Screening Verification Form no earlier than 4 hours prior to arriving for the meet.

·           Follow the guidelines set forth by the NCAA and PacWest as verified by your signing of the PacWest COVID-19 Return to Competition Protocol Guidelines"

·           An ice chest and water cooler without cups will be provided to each team that has at least 20 entries with ice bags and wrap. Pick them up in the SW corner of the track in our medical area.

·           Temperatures must be at or below the established level of safety (100.4 degrees).

·           Covid Protocol for College Teams: Contact Rachelle Cyrus (rcyrus@apu.edu) a minimum of 72 HOURS PRIOR to understand how to complete protocol.

·           Covid Protocol for Club and Unattached athletes: Bring your negative test result to the entry gate and do the day of screening. Covid tests must be taken within 24 hours prior to the meet for an Antigen Test, and 72 hours prior to the meet for the PCR test.

·           Wear a mask over nose and mouth at all times; exceptions are limited to the act of competition, and only if needed during warmups.

·           Maintain 6 feet at all times with all parties and especially with meet workers.

·           When not competing, warming up, or cooling down, stay in your pre-established team area. There can be no mingling between athletes of different teams.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

·           Coaches and Athletic Trainers must follow the same protocol as the athletes, showing proof of a negative Covid test and doing the temperature check at the entrance to the stadium.

·           No spectators allowed. At this time the Azusa Pacific campus is closed to all outside visitors.

·           Open athletes must leave APU campus upon conclusion of their final event and are not allowed in the stadium.

·           Event group coaches are required to leave APU after their events have concluded to minimize the amount of visitors on APU’s campus.

·           When not actively coaching or competing, all coaches and athletes must stay in their designated team area.

·           Team areas can be designated in the stadium and parking lot. Teams must maintain social distances among themselves and not interact with other teams. Keep your team seated in every other row in the stadium. Pop-up tents are permitted in parking lot and stadium stands.

·           Dillon Field Warmup Regulations

1.         Dillon Field is a turf football field located at the east end of the main parking lot.

2.         Entry into the field will be based on the track meet time schedule allowing athletes onto the field no sooner than one hour prior to their event start time.

3.         Athletes must wear a protective face covering on Dillon Field.

4.         Hurdles will be provided, but no starting blocks.

5.         Athletes must stay at 20 feet distances from each other on Dillon Field.

 

APU COVID WALKING/ENTRY-EXIT MAP: To keep socially distanced, we have created a walking flow direction. From the parking lot, enter into Franson Field crossing the footbridge and walk into the stands from the east end. Exit the stands at the west end. Head back to the parking lot out the east end driveway gate.
