Softball draws Texas Lutheran, Texas-Tyler in NCAA Regional

INDIANAPOLIS — The La Verne softball team will make the program's 10th appearance in the NCAA National Championship tournament at the NCAA Texas-Tyler Regional, the softball selection committee announced on Monday.


Defending national champion Texas-Tyler will host the Leopards and Texas Lutheran in a 3-team, double-elimination tournament. La Verne (31-12) will face Texas-Tyler (39-4) on Friday, May 12 at 1 p.m. CDT and Texas Lutheran (37-4) at 4 p.m. CDT the same day. If the Leopards win at least one game, they will move on to play again on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

The winner of the Texas-Tyler Regional will face the winner of the East Texas Baptist Regional (Texas-Dallas, ETBU, Whitworth) on May 19-20.

This is La Verne's first NCAA Regional appearance since 2010. The Leopards are 13-18 all time in NCAA tournament action.
