LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne women's basketball team closed out the 2019-20 season in dominating fashion, routing the visiting Saint Katherine Firebirds 122-59 Monday night.
The Leopards end the year with a 14-11 overall record, their best mark since the 2012-13 season. Nineteen different Leopards scored in the win.
The 122 points by the Leopards rank as the second-highest point total in school history. The Leopards set the record in 2018 in a 135-84 win also over Saint Katherine led by Bailey Kurahashi's 11 three-pointers.
Three Leopards finished in double-figures in the win led by Casey Kuramoto's 13 points and three three-pointers. Jazzlyn Johnson scored 12 points and Jasmine Xiong added 10. Johnson dealt a career-high nine assists. Xiong added four steals and four assists.
Kendall Stanley led La Verne with seven rebounds, Tayla Thompson grabbed six boards, Brittany McDaniel, Casey Kuramoto, and Emily Mercedes each grabbed five rebounds. McDaniel finished with three steals moving her career total to 106, the sixth-most in school history.

La Verne has shown major improvement in the three years under Head Coach Jason Pruitt's leadership. Coach Pruitt inherited a 3-22 team and posted five wins in his first season, 12 wins last year, and 14 this season. Despite losing eight seniors to graduation, the Leopards will return the bulk of their lineup next year.

The Leopards honored seniors Destinee Garcia, Samantha Cash Campbell Maydeen Merino, Maggie Lamas, Emani Smith, Emily Mercedes, Brittany McDaniel, and Hannah Rogers in a brief pregame ceremony.
