Dennis Ko enters his first season as an assistant coach with the La Verne women's basketball team. He is actively involved in recruiting, film exchange, preparing scouting reports and film breakdown. In addition, he works primarily with the guards on individual player development.

“Coach Ko is an enthusiastic young coach who has experience in coaching, scouting, and recruiting at the NCAA Division III level. He is committed to excellence in the classroom and on the court. Coach Ko's experience in the SCIAC will pay great dividends when we get into conference play," said Head Coach Jason Pruitt.

Previously, Ko served as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Caltech from 2013-2017, where he had roles in on-court coaching, recruiting, scouting and player development. During his four years there, he helped send four players to the SCIAC All-Conference team and the team set program records in every major statistical category, including points, rebounds, assists, blocks, and steals. In addition, the Beavers increased their field goal percentage and win totals in each year. He also coached the program's top two all-time leading scorers. 

Raised in nearby Arcadia, Calif., Ko currently a graduate student at Caltech pursuing his Ph.D. in chemical engineering under the supervision of Professor Julie Kornfield. His research focuses on sustained drug delivery to the cornea to treat chronic dry eye. He has been awarded the National Science Foundation's Graduate Research Fellowship.

He earned his bachelor's degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University in 2009. He went on to earn a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Caltech in 2012.
