Tennis falls to No. 19 Lewis & Clark, No. 3 Pomona-Pitzer

 

CLAREMONT, Calif. — The University of La Verne tennis team fell to No. 19 Lewis & Clark on Friday and No. 3 Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday.

La Verne falls to 3-10 overall and 1-1 in SCIAC play.

No. 19 Lewis & Clark 9, La Verne 0

After dropping No. 3 doubles, the Leopards gave the Pioneers a run at No. 1 and No. 2 but both pairs lost by a score of 8-5 and Lewis & Clark took over singles play for the sweep.

Shenelle Trujillo and Madison Madewell fought hard for their first sets at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, but the Pioneers pulle it out at the end.

La Verne could not match the firepower of the Sagehens, who claimed this year's ITA Indoor National Championship in February, and lost 9-0.
