ORANGE, CA — The University of La Verne volleyball could not capture a road win against the Chapman University Panthers on Saturday. The Leopards had a better outing than they did against No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in their previous game but still lost in straight sets.
Set Scores: 25-13, 25-22, 25-20
Noelani Soma had an excellent game for La Verne as she contributed seven kills, a .438 kill percentage, 13 digs, and a block. Ayana Mier led the team in kills with 15 for the game to go with five blocks. The Leos reached the 20 point mark twice in this game, which was an improvement from Friday's game where they averaged 13.7 points in the three sets.
Emily Heldenbrand dished out 12 assists with Jordyn Patton accounting for 11 of her own. Jasmine Chandler had a big game defensively finishing with seven blocks.
Sophie Srivastava, Jessi Lumsden, and Natalie Spencer led Chapman in kills with 12, 10, and nine kills respectively. Collectively, the Panthers had a team kill percentage of .309, which was the difference in this one.
La Verne moves to 4-6 overall and 0-3 in the SCIAC.

La Verne takes on Pomona-Pitzer on Tuesday at 7:00 pm in the Sports Science and Athletics Pavilion as they look for their first conference win of the season.
