PASADENA, Calif. – Senior guard Brett Stephan and junior forward Josiah Sukumaran of the University of La Verne men's basketball team were named to the Academic All-SCIAC team, the conference office announced on Thursday.

Sukumaran was indispensable off the bench this past season, playing in all 25 games. In 14.6 minutes per game, Sukumaran averaged 3.3 points and 3.5 rebounds.

Stephan was on his way to a breakout season before an injury cut his season short. In eight games, Stephan averaged 9.9 points on 57.8 percent shooting from the field, including 50 percent from beyond the three-point line.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average at his/her current institution, must have completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution, and must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility. In the case of transfers, graduate students, and two-year college graduates, the student-athlete must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution.
