Three Times The Charm; Big Win Against Pomona-Pitzer

 By Cyanna Rosa

La Verne, CA - Midfielder Joel Trejo looks like the Leopards lucky charm after winning against Pomona-Pitzer tonight at Ortmayer Stadium. The University of La Verne men's soccer team defeated the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens by a final score of 1-0.

Goalkeeper, Matthew Logan Reese had an active game, with 8 saves tonight, denying the Sagehens any chance to score. With 17 shots attempted by Pomona-Pitzer, La Verne's defense held it down for the shut-out.

Joel Trejo secured the win for the Leopards in the first half. With under three minutes left on the clock, the lone scorer of the night from Sherman Oaks scored with a shot just right outside the 18-yard box. This is Trejo's third goal of the season (second goal in conference), all of which contriubted to Leopard wins. Joel Trejo has started all nine games this season for the Leopards.

There were no scores in the second half. Pomona-Pitzer attempted 6 goals, but the Leopards controlled the nets, as it was a great night of action for the La Verne crowd.

The men's soccer team plays their fourth conference game this Saturday here, at Ortmayer Stadium, at 7 pm. They will face Chapman University for the first time this season.
