LEXINGTON, KY — The University of La Verne volleyball team has earned a USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2020-21 season the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced. In partnership with the United States Marine Corps, the AVCA named 1,281 collegiate and high school teams as award winners.

The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale. A total of 233 NCAA Division III squads earned the distinction, the highest ever for the division.

Although the Leopards did not see the court in 2020, the team excelled in the classroom boasting a team GPA of 3.47.

La Verne volleyball returns to action on September 3 when it hosts the annual Pacific Coast Classic.
