La Verne, CA - The Leopards battled the Chapman Panthers in their final game of the 2022 season, celebrating their seniors amidst a 42-14 loss.
Senior Miguel Aguero Jr. threw for 138 yards at nearly a 62% completion rate, including a 25-yard dot to Spencer Pool in the fourth quarter to cap off La Verne's season. Sophomore Abel Cueva did the heavy lifting for the Leopards on the ground, muscling his way for 51 yards against a Panthers defense that punctured the offensive line throughout the game. Cueva got La Verne's scoring started with a two-yard carry for a touchdown in the third quarter.
The Leopards finished the season with a 2-7 record, winning both games in SCIAC conference play highlighted by a 43-20 homecoming victory against Whittier College. They finished fifth in the conference ahead of the Poets (7th) and California Lutheran University Kingsmen (6th).
