Leopard Swim & Dive Enjoy Top Performances Against Cal Lutheran

The University of La Verne Swimming and Diving team hosted the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen and Regals and enjoyed several outstanding performances as they would split the SCIAC dual meet Saturday at La Verne Aquatic Center.

The women's squad fell to the Regals 165-123 while the men prevailed 182-116 over the Kingsmen.

Marc Okimura, Coleman Goode, Cody Yeo, and Maddie Lovrensky would continue to display their dominance over their respective events as all four Leopards would capture first place finishes in each of their respective individual events. 

Okimura took home first place finishes in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:00.04), 200 yard breaststroke (2:07.06), 100 yard butterfly (55.87), and joined teammates Goode, Felipe Villa, and Devon Photias atop the podium in the 200 yard medley relay (1:40.69). 

Photias also finished atop swimmers in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle with times of 22.11 and 49.84, respectively.  Goode swam towards first place finishes in the 100 yard backstroke (55.09), 200 yard backstroke (2:02.05), and the 200 yard individual medley (2:05.10).  Yeo captured first place finishes in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:46.89), 200 yard freestyle (1:48.30), and 500 yard freestyle (5:02.11). 

For the Leopard women, Lovrensky, Jaycee Hallford, Sammi Shiomoto, and Crystal Antuna would finish 3 seconds ahead of the competition (2:02.21) in the 200 yard medley relay to capture first place.  Lovrensky also found individual success securing top finishes in the 100 yard backstroke (1:00.18), 50 yard freestyle (25.21), and 200 yard backstroke (2:12.56). 

The Leos continued their command of the freestyle events as Hallford finished first with a time of 58.80 in the 100 yard freestyle.  Leopard swimmer Nicole Carlton joined Yeo as a 1000 yard freestyle winner by finishing 14 seconds ahead of her competitors (11:28.91).    

On the women's side, Lovrensky led off the women's 200-yard medley relay which placed second (2:02.77).  She would later come back to win both the 50-yard freestyle (25.49) and 100-yard backstroke (1:01.65).

The Leopard dive squad also put forth a solid effort as Jacob Tittl tallied 144.80 points en route to a second place finish in the 3 meter diving event.  Tittl was followed by Scott MacKay (144.60) and Daniel Sillas (109.15), rounding out the top 4 in the 3 meter event. 

La Verne enjoys the holiday break before returning in action on Saturday, January 5 as they take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on the road in a SCIAC dual meet.
