Leopards Enjoy Several Season Bests At SCIAC Championships

The University of La Verne swimming & diving enjoyed a strong finish to last week's SCIAC Championships and as a result, several season-best performances were achieved.

Heading up the list are junior Marc Okimura and sophomore Maddie Lovrensky, who parlayed excellent seasons into record-setting and NCAA qualifying performances at the conference championships.

Lovrensky repeated her 100-200 backstroke double from a year ago while posting a conference meet record in the 100-yard back at 55.95.  Okimura earned a pair of second place finishes in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events, garnering an NCAA "A" Cut qualifying time in the 100 breast at 55.86.

"I couldn't be prouder of what we accomplished at the championship meet," said Leopard head coach Pat Skehan.  "With what we had, we did extremely well."
