Leopards And Lions Tangle Between The Lines

Florence, AL - The University of La Verne women's basketball team wrapped up it's three-game cross-country road trip in Florence, Alabama as they took on the University of North Alabama.

Division I North Alabama, of the ASUN Conference, hosted the Leopards at Flowers Hall for their second home contest of the early season. The Leopards kept the game within a four-point deficit for the first five and a half minutes of the game before a scoring drought allowed North Alabama to take a lead. The Leopards would score fourteen points in the second period while shooting 87% from the charity stripe. The Leopards would battle the Lions to make a dent into the lead in second-half action. La Verne would shoot 66% from the three-point line in the fourth quarter as they fought to cut the lead but would fall to North Alabama by a final score of 104-56.

Dejanee Gill had a double-double in the game as she had 10 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 steals.

Head coach Jason Pruitt was pleased with his team's progression during the early season road trip and knew the totality of the experience was invaluable. "Tonight and our overall road trip was a first for many of the ladies on our roster.  For some, it was the first time that they competed in an NCAA atmosphere.  For others, it was the first time being in the South.  The one thing that stood out the most for us was how everyone came together and bonded on this trip.   You can not put a win/loss record above the valuable experience our team has picked up during the last two exhibition contests."

La Verne returns to action on November 16th at Life Pacific. Tip-off is at 7:00 PM.
