Women's Soccer Lands Three on Academic All-SCIAC Team

PASADENA, Calif. – Three members of the University of La Verne women's soccer team were named to the Academic All-SCIAC team, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

Junior goalkeeper Delanie Pacheco, junior midfielder Jaime Weaver and senior defender Deanna Doss were all recognized for their work in the classroom.

Pacheco, the First Team All-SCIAC goalkeeper, played and started in 18 games and made a league-leading 108 saves. The next closest SCIAC goalie had 85.

Weaver was a dependable presence in the middle of the pitch for La Verne, starting in all 20 games while scoring two goals.

Doss, who garnered three All-SCIAC honors in track and field including a championship in the hammer throw last year, played in 10 games in defense in her first and final season as a soccer player.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average at his/her current institution, must have completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution, and must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility. In the case of transfers, graduate students, and two-year college graduates, the student-athlete must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution.
