Kelly Beck joined the department as the Compliance & Student Services Manager in January 2022.  He oversees the day-to-day administration of the Compliance Office as well as the department’s relationships with other student serving units at La Verne.  The Compliance Office provides assistance to the entire department in the areas of NCAA and SCIAC rules interpretations, current and prospective student-athlete eligibility, investigating potential rules violations, transcript evaluations, and on and off-campus recruiting activities.

Beck served as the Chief Compliance Officer at fellow SCIAC member Claremont-Mudd-Scripps from 2005-2015.  He also served as CMS’s Sports Information Director for 18 years.  In addition, he was the interim head coach of the CMS track & field programs in 2014-15 and was the assistant coach for both the cross country and track & field teams for 24 years prior to that.

After CMS, he was an assistant track & field and cross country coach at Pacific University (OR) for two years.  A USATF Level Two Certified Endurance coach, Beck continues to coach post-collegiate athletes.

Beck served as the USTFCCCA West Region women’s cross country representative while at both CMS and Pacific and was also the NCAA Division III Track & field historian.

Beck graduated from Harvey Mudd College in 1990 with a degree in Engineering and earned his Master of Sport Science degree in Sport Management from the United States Sports Academy in 1992.  At CMS, he was a four-year member of the cross country and track & field programs.  He and his wife Kathy have two sons, Kevin - a 2015 graduate of UCLA, and Ryan – a 2018 graduate of UC San Diego.
