Leos Powers Past UT Dallas For Sixth Straight Win

Offense continues to be the catalyst for the University of La Verne as it powered its way to a 12-6 win over the University of Texas-Dallas in its third game at the Arizona Desert Classic Friday at Anthem, Arizona.

The Leopards totaled 17 hits against UT-Dallas and benefitted from the longball as both Ross Hebert and Albert Ramos went deep in the victory.  Hebert belted a grand slam in the second inning with Ramos connecting on a three-run homer in the eighth.

La Verne erupted for six runs in the second inning highlighted by Hebert's four-run blast to seize an early 6-0 lead.  UT-Dallas would eventually slice the deficit to two runs at 8-6 before La Verne added four runs in the eighth aided by the three-run shot from Ramos.

The Leos have tallied 38 runs thus far in Arizona and have reached double-figure run totals in five of the six games during the win streak.

Hebert went 3-4 at the plate with four RBI.  Jacob Ludvik also contributed with four hits in five at-bats with a pair of doubles and two runs scored.  Bryce Roenicke went 3-4 with two RBI.

Kevin Knight earned the victory on the mound, allowing four runs in six innings pitched.

La Verne continues action Saturday as it takes on Northwest Conference member Pacific Lutheran in a 12:30 pm start.
