Leos Fall to Pac Lu in Extra Innings

The University of La Verne baseball team was tied going into the eleventh inning against Pacific Lutheran, but fell 4-3 to the Lutes in the Arizona Desert Classic on Saturday afternoon. 

Down 1-0, the Leopards scored a run in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game.  Bryce Roenicke was hit-by-a-pitch. Jason Moralez singled to left field to put runnners on first and second. Michael Stewart also hit a single to left field to score the tying run.

Pac Lu responded back in the bottom of the sixth inning, with two runs scored off of four hits to give them a 3-1 advantage.


The Leopards were able to knot the game at three, after scoring two runs in the 7th inning. After Zach Canfield singled and Adrian Franco was hit-by-a-pitch, Jacob Ludvik singled to left center to score the first run of the inning. The second run was scored off a Pacific Lutheran fielding error.

As the game headed into extra innings, it was the Lutes that were able to earn the 4-3 victory after scoring a run off and RBI single by Ryan Frost. Frost also recorded the win for the Lutes after coming in to pitch in the 9th inning. The loss went to Sean Fasig.

La Verne is now 7-2 overall, while Pac Lu improves to 3-2.


The Leopards will finish out their Arizona trip tomorrow with a matchup against Concordia (TX). The game will begin at 10AM in Anthem, AZ.
