Leos Fall to Tornados In Final Game of Arizona Desert Classic

In their final game of the Arizona Desert Classic, the La Verne baseball team fell to the Concordia University (TX) Tornados 8-2 on Sunday afternoon.

The Tornados grabbed an early 7-0 lead, scoring 2 runs in the first inning and 5 in the second off a grand slam by Colin Janssen and an RBI single.

La Verne scored their first run in the top of the fourth inning. Jason Moralez led off with a single through the right side and then advanced to second when Adrian Franco reached on a walk. Ross Hebert then hit an RBI single up the middle to put the Leopards on the board.

Concordia was able score one more run in the sixth inning. The Leopards respond with a run in the top of the seventh when Mason Stoltenberg and Zach Canfield hit back-to-back singles. Jacob Ludvik then hit a single to score La Verne's second run. The Tornados would hold the Leos to two runs, resulting in an 8-2 victory.

Leopards now have a record of 7-3 overall. This Friday they will head to Eagle Rock to take on the Occidental Tigers in the first game of a three-game series. Friday's game will begin at 2:30 pm, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday to be played at Azusa Pacific University.
