The University of La Verne men's soccer team hosted Occidental
College Saturday morning to start the second round of conference
play, but fell 2-0 to the Tigers at Ben Hines Field.
The Leopards dominated the stat sheet in the first half of play,
outshooting the Tigers 7-1 and earning five more corner kicks. The
agressive play resulted in eight Occidental fouls compared to La
Verne's four. Depite three shots on goal, neither team would find
the back of the net and the score would remained knotted at
halftime.
Occidental was the first to put a goal on the scoreboard, as Reid
Sakamoto would take a direct kick and find Ben Grime, who finished
off the play with a header. Will Moseley would tack on another goal
in the 83rd minute, which would prove to be the final score of the
game, giving the Tiger's a 2-0 victory.
The Leopards will play the Stags from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on
Wednesday night, who they beat 4-1 in September at home. The match
will start at 7:00pm in Claremont.
