The University of La Verne men's soccer team took a 3-0 loss in a Saturday-night contest with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
The Leopards went into the second half tied at 0-0, but found themselves in a deficit after 66th-minute goal from the Stags' Hogan Marhoefer. The contest stayed within reach before two late goals in the 85th and 86th minutes.
La Verne's offense produced seven shots in the first half to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' nine, but only one in the second half with the Stags attempting eight. The Leopards were awarded two corner kicks versus six for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
Senior midfielders David Gonzalez and Fernando Almejo led La Verne with two shots apeice. Freshman goalie Dylan Roberts recorded six saves.
The Leopards will take the field Tuesday at Whittier College in Whittier, Calif. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
