The University of La Verne men’s tennis team suffered a 9-0 non-conference loss on the road to Division II Cal Poly Pomona Wednesday in Pomona.
The Broncos gained victories in all the doubles contests en route to grabbing a 3-0 lead over La Verne (3-4) prior to singles competition.
In singles action, junior Alex Muresan produced the best results for the visitors. Muresan succumbed to Bronco Mike Palacio by scores of 6-3, 6-4. At No. 1, senior Mario Backes lost to Joshua Lau 6-1, 6-2 and freshman J.P. Arreglado fell on 6-1, 6-0 scores to Salvador Romero in No. 2. The Broncos came out on top in singles No. 4, 5 and 6 as well.
The Leopards return to action Saturday as they travel to La Mirada for an 11 a.m. dual match against Biola.
