Leopards Drop Home Match To Nationally-Ranked Sewanee

The University of La Verne men’s tennis team dropped a home dual match, 6-3, to visiting Sewanee (GA) on Monday at the Claremont Tennis Club.

ULV (4-5) won one-of-three doubles contests on the day. The duo of Alex Muresan and J.P. Arreglado defeated Sewanee’s Max Lemaigre and Tanz Kane on an 8-6 result in No. 2. Sewanee took a 2-1 edge before singles action.

The Leopards took two-of-six singles contests against Sewanee, ranked 29th nationally in Division III. Arreglado solidly defeated Lemaigre 6-4, 6-0 in No. 2, while Muresan beat Kane with scores of 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) in No. 4. La Verne dropped matches No. 3, 5, 6 and 1, where returning All-American Charlie Boyd outlasted senior Mario Backes 6-3, 6-2.

ULV returns to the courts as they host Lake Forest on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
