The University of La Verne concluded the 2008 campaign with four athletes competing at the 108th annual Ojai Tournament.
Senior Mario Backes was victorious in his opening match, upsetting CMS's Drew Sabiter 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 in the first round of the Men's Division III singles competition. Backes was eliminated by Pomona-Pitzer's Cameron Taylor in the Round of 32.
The doubles tandem of Alex Muresan and John Paul Arreglado prevailed in its first round over Caltech's twosome of Rico Chiu and Ilia Shadrin 8-3 before succumbing to the Whitman College duo of Matt and Dan Solomon by an 8-1 verdict.
The Leopards conclude the season with seven team wins under the direction of first-year Don Flora, more than double last year's total of three wins.
