LA VERNE- The University of La Verne women's soccer team took a 4-1 loss against Pomona-Pitzer Saturday.
The first half was marked by strong defensive efforts, with the Sagehens providing the only goal at the 18-minute mark. Pomona-Pitzer added another goal in the 47th minute in addition to scores in the 72nd and 82nd minutes, before La Verne senior defender Katie Careaga broke the Sagehen defense with a last-minute strike in the 90th.
La Verne attempted 15 shots, including five on goal, while Pomona-Pitzer fired 20 shots total with 10 on goal.
La Verne will travel back to Claremont to take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Wednesday at 7 p.m.
