Leopard cross country squad concludes season at regionals

CLAREMONT- The University of La Verne women's cross country team competed at the NCAA West Region Championships Saturday. 

Senior Shelby Sato led a tight Leopard pack in her final collegiate race, covering the 6,000-meter course in 25 minutes, 53.66 seconds to take 112th. A trio of freshman was close behind, with Jacquie Scherrer, Andrea Valdez and Kamalei Lee finishing in 113th (25:57.81), 114th (25:59.17), and 115th (26:14.35) respectively.  

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps took the team trophy with 62 points while Williamette's Michaela Freeby was the individual champion in the 141-runner field in a time of 21:37.66. The Leos did not record a team score.
