APPLETON, Wisc. — Senior catcher Joe Winterburn was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings Division III All-America Second Team on Thursday night in Appleton, Wis., the site of the 2014 NCAA Division III College World Series.
A Division I transfer from UC Santa Barbara, Winterburn spent just one season as a Leopard, but he made it a memorable one.
The Glendora native immediately became one of the best players in the conference, hitting .350 AVG/.432 OBP/.571 slugging while playing the most demanding position on the diamond. Winterburn amassed 13 doubles, seven home runs, 54 runs batted in and 41 runs. He stole five bases for good measure.
Winterburn's 54 RBI is good for 10th in the nation this season and his 1.35 RBI per game ranks him ninth.
Winterburn was also named to First Team All-SCIAC earlier this month.
