Head Coach Richard Reed Becomes The All Time Wins Leader In Victory Over Occidental

Los Angeles, CA - The University of La Verne men's basketball team traveled to Los Angeles, California to take on the Occidental Tigers in a late-season conference match-up.

The Leopards came into tonight's game seeking to take a game on the road and move up in the SCIAC standings. The game between the two teams would be a battle from the opening tip. La Verne would take an early lead in the game on a jumper by Brian Adams to get the Leopards on the scoreboard. La Verne would hold the lead until the seven-minute mark; the Tigers would go on a late half run to lead at intermission by a score of 49-35.

The second half of action would be closely contested as the Leopards closed the deficit and the game remained within the five to six-point range. The Leopards would be down by 3 points with 3 seconds left when Brian Adams knocked down a deep three to force the game into overtime. The Leopards would then go on to lock up the victory in the extra period and head coach Richard Reed would get his 117th win, becoming the all-time wins leader in the history of the University of La Verne men's basketball program. Four Leopards scored in double figures; Brian Adams scored 30 points, Saafir Moore had 19 points, Gabriel McCrary added 13 points and Tyler Matthews added 13 points. Kyler Harvey had 11 rebounds in the victory.

The Leopards play at Redlands on February 18th at 7:00 PM.
