Leopards Finish Fifth At SCIAC Track & Field Championships

LA VERNE, CA - The Leopards scored 69 points to finish fifth after the second and final day of the SCIAC Track & Field Championships.  There were 15 finals on Sunday - all 10 events on the track along with five field events.  The Leos scored in nine events including six podium (top 3 finishes).  Joshua Collier scored in four events on the day.  He finished second in the 400 meter hurdles with a personal best time of 52.92.  He moved up to #3 in La Verne history and is currently ranked sixth nationally in the event.  He also finished third in the 110 meter high hurdles (15.03) and ran on the fourth place 4 x 100 meter and 4 x 400 meter relays.  Tyler Thomas also scored in four events.  He finished second in the 200 meters (21.54), third in the 100 meters (10.77) and was also on both fourth place relays.  Zachary Reid scored in two events.  He finished second in the 110 meter high hurdles with a season best time of 14.63 and anchored the 4 x 100 relay.  Ivan Estrada was also on both relays while Jayden Figueroa was on the 4 x 400 relay.  Kenneth Davis finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 44-11.  Brandon Pedroza finished fourth in the discus throw with a mark of 126-4.  TK Berhe finished eighth in the 5000 meters with a time of 14:52.80.

5000 meters: Jose Reyes, 15:24.10; Zyeir Shabete, 16:00.52; Thomas Taniguchi, 16:03.53

High Jump: Elijah Martinez, NH

Shot Put: Pedroza, 37-1; Michael Kenfield, 33-10.75

Discus Throw: Kenfield, 94-7
