Leopards Place Seven on Academic All-SCIAC Football Team

PASADENA – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced its 2013-14 Academic All-SCIAC Football Team and the University of La Verne had seven honorees.

Selections from La Verne are: Senior LB Anthony Arguello, sophomore WR Adam Ayres, sophomore WR Rocky Bragg, junior OL Kyle Ellis, junior DL Nicholas Gutierrez, junior OL Justin Schnurstein and senior OL Michael Simon.

It marks the third-straight year Simon has earned All-Academic honors. Ellis, Gutierrez and Schnurstein did it for the second year in a row.

Arguello and Gutierrez also earned Second Team All-SCIAC honors this season.

La Verne has landed at least five student-athletes on the Academic All-SCIAC Teams for the past six seasons. During that span, the Leopards had 41 total honorees. 

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average at his current institution, must have completed one full calendar year at his current institution and must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility. In the cases of transfers, graduate students and two-year college graduates, the student-athlete must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution.
