Leopard drop tight match with Pomona-Pitzer in men's water polo season finale

LA VERNE- The University of La Verne men's water polo squad concluded its season with a 14-11 loss to Pomona-Pitzer.

The Leopards (6-20, 2-6 SCIAC) kept things close for most of the game, owning or sharing the lead for much of the first quarter. After two periods they were faced with a 7-4 deficit, but battled back to within one (10-9) going into the fourth before the Sagehens (9-21, 5-3 SCIAC) pulled away.

Sophomore attacker Bryan Jiminez led the Leo offense with four goals, three of those coming in the third quarter. Sophomore driver Matthew Vega recorded three scores while junior Daniel Newell made 14 saves on the day.

Saturday's contest marked the last home competition for seniors Daniel Hargis, Matthew Monterroso and Bosko Dimic.
