VENTURA, CA — The University of La Verne women's golf team got the 2021-22 season started early this week at the CA State Intercollegiate hosted at Oliva Links. The Leopards finished the tournament in 11th place
Five golfers made their La Verne debut in the tournament. Dani Soto, Kaylee Perdomo, Aerin Wiggins, Gigliola Davilla, and Julie Garcia all played their first rounds in the green and orange. Soto led the Leopards with a 52nd place finish, improving her card by three strokes on the final day of the competition.
"It was a great experience for our new players," said new University of La Verne head golf coach Brad Johnson. "We're a young team and have a lot of work to do but it was great to get back on the course and compete."
The Leopards have a quick turnaround and will be back in action this weekend. La Verne next competes at the Redlands Shootout at The S at Rancho Mirage in La Quinta, CA. The tournament begins this Friday and ends on Sunday.
