PASADENA — Cassidy Schweiger, Lauren Toneck and Kelsea Varner of the University of La Verne women's soccer team were named the 2015 All-SCIAC Women's Soccer Team as voted by the league's head coaches. The trio landed on the Second Team.
Schweiger started in all 18 games and was La Verne's engine in the midfield as her distribution, play on the ball and willingness to want the ball drove the Leopards. She finished with one goal and three assists on the season.
Toneck, La Verne's only four-year senior, has been a rock in the back line for the past four seasons and wraps up her career with an all-conference nod. She started all 18 games for the Leopards and contributed to four clean sheets. She scored her lone goal of the season and the second of her career on Senior Night against Cal Lutheran.
Speedy winger Kelsea Varner, also a senior, garners her first All-SCIAC recognition after recording five assists (fourth in SCIAC) and her ability to consistently create offensive threats down both flanks.
The Leopards finished the season 6-10-2 and will miss the production and leadership of the seniors, but return six starters including the team's leading goal scorer Jessica Hernandez.
