Foster, Myers Earn All-SCIAC Honors

PASADENA – Lindsey Foster and Emily Myers of the University of La Verne women's basketball team were selected to All-SCIAC Teams, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Foster was named to the first team and Myers claimed a spot on the second team.

Foster was fourth in the league in scoring with 15.4 points per game in SCIAC play and was eighth in rebounding with 6.9 per game.  The senior notched six double-doubles and topped the 20-point mark five times.

"With Lindsey, we knew going in that she was going to be one of the leading scorers and contributors to the team," La Verne head coach Julie Shaw said. "She played through an injury to her shooting hand and her attitude of 'wrap it up and let's go' embodied how our team was this year.

"Lindsey is just a really great player, someone who has made a positive impact on our program and we're thankful that she was able to do what she did for us this year."

Myers had a breakout season. The sophomore center averaged 12.4 points and 7 rebounds per game this season and filled a big hole in the front court for the Leopards.

"I think Emily may have surprised herself," Shaw said. "But she didn't surprise us, because we knew that she had the ability to be an all-conference player. The minutes opened up at her position and she did amazingly with those minutes."

Myers posted five double-doubles and had a number of huge games. She was 9 of 10 from the field against Colorado College on Nov. 23 to top 20 points for the first time in her career, grabbed 15 rebounds against Caltech on Jan. 4 and had a 24-10 night at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Feb. 15.

"She still has a lot of room to grow and I'm excited to see what she will do in the coming years," Shaw added.

Kimi Takaoka of Chapman was named the SCIAC Athlete of the Year.
